WHAT TO DO

The Snowy River region prides itself on the quality of our stunning natural environment.

In winter, visitor numbers explode and the mountains becomes a hive of activity with visitors from far and wide. The local snow resorts include Perisher, Thredbo, Charlotte Pass and Selwyn Snowfields are all located relatively close by in the Kosciuszko National Park.

When the snow melts, trout and salmon fishermen come to fish the lake and streams. Water skiers and wake boarders enjoy the warm summer sun and water that can reach above 25 degrees Celsius on the lake surface. In Summer there's also, white water rafting, bushwalking, special events including music and art festivals, the famous Snowy Ride, mountain biking and a host of other summer activities. Currently Snowy River Shire Council and Tourism Snowy Mountains are undertaking a variety of projects to expand the region’s summer season.

Outside of winter the area has become a Mecca for outdoor activities.  Many people are now discovering the fresh air and beauty of the high country during the hot Aussy summer.
